Two Pan Pacific South East Asia Womens Association workshops showed the existence of parents unable to discuss the subject of sexuality with their children.
The workshops for 94 young women and seven women teachers on sexuality and sexual health also expressed concern that teachers are not helpful when students seek counselling from them, PPSEAWA president Lavinia Padarath said.
She was speaking during a workshop on "Teenage, Family, and Health" yesterday at Lautoka.
"Participants in the two workshops came out strongly with the view that more similar seminars should be held but other groups such as young men, parents and teachers be included," Mrs. Padarath added.
PPSEAWA has played an important role as fore-runner of the Fiji National Council of Women.
PPSEAWA is active in promoting the status of women, children and the family.
