PPSEAWA Hawaii sends its deeply felt condolences to the family of Harriet S. Tonaki. She was a much loved, life-time, merited member. PPSEAWA conference goers will remember the orange knitted leis she made which became a tradition. Hawaii members will continue to wear them in her memory. Mildred Jones attended her funeral on February 5, 2000.
Mrs Gladys Reynolds (1906-1999), Life member of PPSEAWA Australia and member of PPSEAWA South Australia.
Mrs Reynolds was also a valued member of the Women's Christian Temperance Union (WCTU) in Australia and at one stage World Superintendent for LWR and Child Welfare.
Gladys had a special passion for the welfare of infants and pre-schoolers and this was evident in her willingness to open her home for 37 years to a Group's regular meetings. She was awarded an honour for the best work in this field of endeavour in Australia. Gladys attended many world conferences including those of PPSEAWA. As a result, significant work at all levels in which she engaged was of great service for individuals and communities.
Lady Randall (Nora) (1916-1999), Life member PPSEAWA ACT.
Lady Randall, a past president of PPSEAWA ACT will be remembered always with great affection. Several will remember her as a delegate at national and International conferences in the late 80s and early 90s. Nora was a most valued leader and worker over many years in the National council of Women and the Catholic Women's League and the service of thanksgiving and celebration of her life at St Christopher's Cathedral in November 1999 was well attended by many PPSEAWA members and representatives of other women's and community organizations.
PPSEAWA has been enriched by the strong faith, service, knowledge and friendship of Gladys and Nora. We will miss them. However they will be remembered with affection for many years.
The All Pakistan Women's Association reports that the Senior Vice President, Begum Zeba Zubair expired on 2 November, 1999. She is deeply mourned by APWA. She was a member of honour and a life member of the organization.
