Activities In Partnership With Other Organizations
- In collaboration with the National council of Women of Thailand, PPSEAWA Thailand contributed presents as awards in the bazaar of annual Red Cross Fair.
- Project on "Child and Family" in collaboration with Paingern Community, organized a project on "The Promotion of Youth Potentials" at the Preschool Development Center, Wat Paingern Community.
- Project on "Classroom Envirenment Management", In collaboration with Bonkai Community and the Faculty member of the Rajapat Institute, Nakompratom Province, at the Preschool Center in the Bonkai Community, Bangkok.
Major events of activities during the period of the years 1997-1998
- To award scholarships to children of HIV addicted parents.
- The Rural Development Project organized the Project on "Urban Volunteers for Rural Kindergarten Development" at Prachuab Kiri Kan and Kanjanaburi Provinces.
- The Project Committee on "Thai Arts and Cultural Preservation" organized monthly activities.
- PPSEAWA Thailand nominated a delegation to present "Thailand NGO's CEDAW report 1998" to CEDAW convention at the United Nations HQ, N.Y.
- USA, led by Dr. Chaiskran Hiranpruk, who was Chairperson of the task-force working on this report.
- PPSEAWA nominated delegation to attend the workshop on "Children , The Family and Health" in Singapore.
- PPSEAWA Thailand nominated a delegation to attend the 43rd United National Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) at the UN HQ in N.Y. U.S.A.
- The Project Committee on "Child and Family" organized a day meeting on "Children, The Family and Health on the issue of "What it takes to give Children Long Life," to parents and students of the Paingern Chotanaram School.
- PPSEAWA Thailand nominated ESCAP Representative, Dr. Chaiskran Hiranpruk, to attend ESCAP Regional Hearing in Tokyo which was one of the life in series of regional held to discuss the challenges facing the United Nations in the 21th century.
- The UN Year of the Aged 1999, the Committee on Chold and Family together with the Rural Development Committee, organized special luncheons and gift presentation to the aged at Nursing Homes in Ayudhya and Kanchanaburi Provinces.
Activities for 2000
- The Rural Development Project/Committee members will visit 100 pre school children along the Thai-Kampuchea border at Aranyaprathet, Sakaew province, to distribute mild, supplementary foods, and stationery at the end of March 2000.
- The Child and Family Project with moderators who are psychologists, will organize a seminar under the topic "Think ahead and Reach that goal" for high school students.
- We anticipated 10 participants in our delegation to the Cook Island.
We are very pleased to led you know that Thanpuying Sumalee Chartikavaniji, the immediate past President of PPSEAWA has been nominated "Woman of the Year" for the year 2000 by the Association for the Promotion of the Status of Women.
