A Day to Remember - Sept. 11, 2001
We, PPSEAWA-USA, want to thank our PPSEAWA sisters and friends for their expressions of sympathy and love to us and to our Nation which suffered a tremendous loss but is now returning slowly to its normal routine.
I was touched by the rapid and touching response of people around the world who expressed their support and prayers for our grieving Nation. The messages that I received came from far corners of the world; Australia, Austria, England, France, Lebanon, Poland, Thailand, and Tonga. I will share with you some excerpts from these messages.
From HRH Princess Nanassipau'u Tuku'aho, International President of PPSEAWA (TONGA):
"On behalf of my husband and myself I offer our sincerest sympathy to you, your family, your friends and your nation for the losses you have suffered. We hope you and your loved ones are safe, but also realize that this tragedy has touched each of you in various ways.
I pray for those of you who have lost loved ones that you will be comforted and receive strength to carry on.
I pray for those of you who have suffered financial losses that you would have the courage and wisdom to pick up the pieces and walk bravely forward into the future whatever it holds."
From Valerie Hogan, 1st Vice President of PPSEAWA International (NEW ZEALAND):
"My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time - find it difficult to comprehend the carnage. Many blessings of comfort be upon you and your country. I weep wtth you."
From Thanpuylng Sumalee Chartikavanij (THAILAND):
"On behalf of Thai Women watch I wish to offer our deep sympathy and sincere condolences to our American friends and PPSEAWA sisters. We are praying for the recovery of your spirit and physical well-being. The stories that came out of bravery, heroism and oneness during the attack and after certainly made us proud to be your friends."
From Kalo Fohe on behalf of PPSEAWA Tonga:
"On behalf of PPSEAWA Tonga I send you our heartfelt sympathies for America and especially for our PPSEAWA sisters and their families. We have no idea how deeply this tragedy has affected your personal lives or the lives of your loved ones, but we pray that God sill comfort and sustain you.
We also pray for your President and other leaders. We hope that this terrorist attack which was intended to weaken America will in fact strengthen it, but we sorrow for the innocent who have been mercilessly massacred.
This act of terrorism is not an act against the United States because the world has become a global community. The ripples of this tragic event will even reach the stores of the tiny island countries in the Peaceful Ocean. As we cry and pray for you, we are also crying and praying for ourselves."
From Mary Cabrera, President PPSEAWA Australia & Vice President PPSEAWA International Council:
"On behalf of PPSEAWA members around Australia I would like to pass on to you our thoughts and prayers at this time of great distress for those affected by the appalling incidents of September 11. Please be assured that you are all very close to us in love and friendship as we are joined together in the bonds of peace."
Having such friends as you and the love that you give us, we are a most fortunate nation and with you at our side we shall overcome this international disaster.
On behalf of PPSEAWA USA I thank you one and all for your empathy and love. Teresa A. Hintzke, Immediate past President, PPSEAWA-USA, Director-PPSEAWA International Council.
