In June, in conjunction with Taiwan's council of Labor Affairs, we held a two day seminar discussing "equal opportunity of sexes in the workplace, methods of enhancing women's rights and welfare, and ways to discourage discrimination of women in the work place." During the two days we invited professors and experts in this field to report their research in this area. Discussions were held to suggest policy and laws that might be implemented into Taiwan's current labor laws and regulations.
In July we held a seminar, "Women's Health Issues" at the Yee-Zen General Hospital. This facility is provided blood and osteoporosis testing for all participants. Doctors of this hospital contributed to the seminar in their specialty areas. Each department addressed the issue of how to maintain health at different ages in the life cycle. Through this seminar we have created a renewed awareness of self-exams and check-ups.
In October, PPSEAWA ROC was part of a larger effort by the National Women's Organization at a three-day exhibition in Taipei focusing on the relationship of Children and Mothers to Growth. As a sponsoring organization PPSEAWA invited many other women's groups to display their latest findings within their area of interest or specialty.
Our December meeting will be a workshop to demonstrate various handicrafts.
