Spotlight on Members...
Josephine dC. Dominguez, Philippines: Dominguez ran for a seat in the Congress and won! She joins 27 other women in the Congress in the Philippines. She writes that her new position will make for a schedule more hectic than ever, but she feels it is worth it to have a chance to work for women. On September 1, 1998, PPSEAWA-Philippines gave a reception honoring Mrs. Dominguez and the other 26 female legislators.
Ann Tan, President of Singapore Council of Women's Organizations: Tan has been named a Justice of the Peace and presided over her first wedding Saturday, November 7, 1998.
Beth Morrison, QSM, New Zealand: Morrison was named a Life Member of PPSEAWA New Zealand. Morrison first heard Miss Elsie Andrews speak of PPSEAWA at a study group in the 1930's, but was unable to commit time to PPSEAWA until being named an observer to the 1972 Auckland Conference. Since then she has attended 4 more conferences. Morrison says that friendship she has made in PPSEAWA have enriched her life.
Edna Gardiner, New Zealand: Another member named to life status, Gardiner first encountered PPSEAWA in Suva, Fiji, when the PPSEAWA meetings were held in the church her husband served. Her first International Conference was Tonga in 1964, and then she attended 6 more. Gardiner served as International Secretary in 1972.
Tara Satyanand, New Zealand: This newly appointed life member first learned of Pan Pacific in 1928 from her school Principal, Miss A. M. Griffin, who had attended the founding meetings in Hawaii. She joined PPSEAWA in the 1950's and attended four International conferences. She served PPSEAWA Auckland in several offices and was Vice President of PPSEAWA NZ.
Royal Buscombe, U.S.A.: Buscombe was honored by PPSEAWA USA for 40 years of service to the organization in the USA and Australia at the annual meeting in New York in June, 1998. Royal is a regular attendee at International Conferences. She has held many offices locally and Internationally. Currently, she serves PPSEAWA USA as Secretary.
