Children, The Family and Health - A New International Program for PPSEAWA

In other years PPSEAWA has sponsored workshops and one day meetings "Women, The Family and Health," then "Teenagers, The Family and Health," and this August there will be the first workshop in the series "Children, The Family and Health."

This new program has been planned in consultation with John Bennett of UNESCO and Dr. Ilona Kickbusch and Dr. Jim Tulloch of WHO. From these consultants PPSEAWA learned that children ten years and younger are at the greatest risk for many factors. In today's world, too many children do not even live to the age of ten years.

To discuss the problems of these children, a parent, a teacher and a community worker will be invited to Honolulu from each of the following PPSEAWA Associations: American Samoa, Fiji, Japan, Korea, Samoa, Taiwan, the United States and the host association, Hawaii.

Then, in the fall of this year, there will be a second workshop in Southeast Asia for the PPSEAWA associations in Australia, the Cook Islands, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.

The Workshops and One Day meetings are sponsored by UNESCO and WHO and will be funded by Air France and Nestle.
