The Year of Older Persons
In Australia, as it is now the norm for young women to continue their chosen careers after marriage, it is the older women who predominate in all voluntary work and organisations. One of these, the Vice-President of the New South Wales Group of PPSEAWA, Joan Stevenson, was recently made a Member of the Order of Australia (A.M) for her tireless work over many years, particularly in the Girl Guides of which, in 1952, she was appointed Commissioner for five years.
