To: Anamah Tan, Shirley Munyan and all the Participants and Observers at PPSEAWA’s Second Workshop on “Children, the Family and Health” meeting in Singapore, February 18 - 20, 1999

Sincere greetings to all of you. You are assembled in Singapore to listen to distinguished speakers and authorities on various aspects of the health problems facing children of 10 years old and under, and to discuss those problems and possible remedies for them. The World Health Organization considers children’s health to be one of the most pressing of global health problems. This is the second such workshop to be sponsored by PPSEAWA. The first one, in Hawaii last August, was most informative and helpful to those in attendance, and I’m sure that this one will be equally beneficial for you.

PPSEAWA decided to hold two small workshops instead of one big one, because we thought that in a smaller group, everyone would have a chance to participate actively. This is your workshop. Use it. Add to it. Learn from it, and take what you learn home with you and run with it.

I bid you all welcome, and I wish you a wonderful and exciting workshop!
