A Life Worth Living: Teenagers, The Family, and Health

Pago Pago, Americal Samoa - 15 March 1997

Our One-Day-Youth meeting conducted on March 15th, 1997 was an all day educational workshop attended by 45 participants representing 4 Church Youth groups, 4 High School, and students from the Americorp. The topics selected were the results of a survey distributed to the High School students, as part of the preparations and planning for the event. The five topics selected were:

  1. CPR
  2. First Aid
  3. AIDS
  4. Suicide
  5. Teenage Pregnancy

The PPSEAWA and Red Cross Network Program utilized instructors from the local hospital, as well as the Red Cross American Samoa Chapter with assistance from the members of PPSEAWA American Samoa. There were minor alterations to the program attached in that the CPR Class (on the top of the program) and the First Aid Classes were taught by the local Emergency Medical Service Instructor (who is also the trainer for the Red Cross American Samoa Chapter).

PPSEAWA American Samoa is happy to have been given the opportunity to participate in this One-Day-Youth meeting, and we hope that future opportunities will be communicated to us. Our members who participated in the program that day felt enriched and happy to have taken part in the education of our youth.
