PPSEAWA-USA Scholarship

25 September 2008

We were very successful in our last year’s Fund Raiser as well as in receiving additional contributions from the Chapters and individual members.  Thank you all for your generosity and continued support.

For the school year 2008-2009 we gave three scholarships.

1 September 2007

The Scholarship Fund was established by PPSEAWA USA in 2002 to benefit one young woman each year who resides in one of the following nations with a PPSEAWA chapter: Fiji, Tonga, Papua New Guinea, Niue, Samoa, American Samoa, Cook Islands, Sri Lanka, and USA. The goal is to help a young woman to finish high school.

1 December 2006

At the beginning of 2006, I encouraged our PPSEAWA chapters to seek applicants for PPSEAWA USA scholarships. These were American Samoa, Samoa, Niue, Fiji, Papua New Guinea and we added Sri Lanka. As of now, I have only heard from Fiji and Samoa. PPSEAWA has offered Evon Prasad from Fiji a three year scholarship. The request from Samoa is pending.

1 August 2005

Our PPSEAWA USA scholarships were awarded to Evon Prasa of Fiji and Dora Tuilletufuga of Samoa. Evon is 15 years old and if she maintains her good academic standards, we have made a commitment to pay her tuition for three years. The second scholarship, for the last year of high school, went to Dora. I met Dora while I attended the PPSEAWA International Council meeting. She was one of the young speakers at our workshop. Dora is very articulate and eager to get a good education.
