We were very successful in our last year’s Fund Raiser as well as in receiving additional contributions from the Chapters and individual members. Thank you all for your generosity and continued support.
For the school year 2008-2009 we gave three scholarships.
Jessica Goodwin, Piney Woods School, Mississippi, will graduate in May 2009. She received a partial scholarship during the last two years. Also from Piney Woods is Lareeva McNair who will be starting 11th grade. Priya Pandey, 14, attends the Joyti School for Deaf Children in Bithoor Kampur, India. The Joyti School was started by Chicago Chapter member Shanti Dixit and her husband. The school provides basic education, language skills and job training for disadvantaged children. At present there are 162 students enrolled and the cost per student is $250.00. If you would like to sponsor a child or donate funds, please contact me or visit www.joytiforchildren.org.
