PPSEAWA Hawaii is grateful for the bequest of Dr. Sarah Vann, our Vice President and President, from 1998 through 2005. She attended many international PPSEAWA conferences.
In fond memory of her, we thank her sincerely, for thinking of us at PPSEAWA Hawaii.
After our Fall meeting at Susannah Wesley on 9/5/18, we learned about their Victims of Sex Trafficking Program. We felt that this was an area we PPSEAWA Hi women could help in some way. Together with donations of money and personal items, volunteers from friends and relatives, an appeal went out to all PPSEAWA Hi members to help do the shopping for items needed to fill HOPE bags to be given to the victims who are being helped by SWCC .
For our 80th Birthday Anniversary, in May of 2008, I had written a booklet about our first 80 years. It is a short history of PPSEAWA Hawaii and includes many photos, membership statistics and details of past activities. They are, amongst many others, the program preparations for the Triennual International Meetings These International presentations continue to be very important to emphasize PPSEAWA Hawaii’s special status.
On Sept. 5, 2018, PPSEAWA Hi members met at Susannah Wesley Community Center for the Fall Membership meeting. The meeting was also attended by Joni Chun, the new director of Susannah Wesley Community Center.
The speaker for the meeting was Nicole Akizaki, Resource Development and Communications Officer who heads the Victim Assistance Program at SWCC. She gave an informative presentation about their work with young girls who are victims of the sex trade, and suggested ways in which we can be of assistance.
