PPSEAWA USA Scholarship Award

The Scholarship Fund was established by PPSEAWA USA in 2002 in order to benefit one young woman each year who resides in a nation having a PPSEAWA National Organization such as: Australia, Canada, Cook Islands, Fiji, Hawaii, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Samoa, Taiwan, Thailand, Tonga, and the United States of America.  The Scholarship Award is to help a girl to complete her last 2 years of secondary education (finish high school), so she will be able to go further if so desired.

Women’s association holds high-tea to mark special day

IT MAY look like a normal tea party with women laughing and sharing stories with one another over tea and delicious Malay kuih, but this group, however, is the backbone of a lesser heard non-governmental organisation. 

The Pan-Pacific and South-East Asia Women’s Association of Malaysia (PPSEAWA) is the only international women’s organisation devoted to families, peace and understanding in the Pacific and South-East Asia.

Over 100 participants packed the auditorium at the Corboy Law Center of Loyola University in Chicago on September 3, 2014, for a seminar on the “Human Trafficking of Women and Girls - Global Strategies”. PPSEAWA partnered with the Center for the Human Rights of Children (CHRC) at Loyola University in Chicago and the International Women’s Associates, Inc. (IWA) to present this seminar.

PPSEAWA members from Australia, Fiji, Hawaii, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Taiwan, Thailand, as well as USA members from Boston, Chicago, New York, and Toledo attended the Welcome Reception at the Drake Hotel in Chicago hosted by PPSEAWA USA and the Chicago Chapter on September 1, 2014. After warm welcomes from our three hosts, International President Teresa Hintzke, USA President Taina Woodward, and Chicago Chapter President Gisela Blumeneau, we enjoyed a wonderful presentation by Bob Andresen on Chicago’s history and architecture over wine and hors d’oeuvres.

PPSEAWA’s Presence at CSW59 in New York

The 59th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW59) took place at the United Nations in New York from March 9-20, 2015. Participants gathered to evaluate the progress and remaining challenges for implementing the Beijing Platform for Action, the 1995 agreement that identified 12 critical areas of concern for gender equality and women's rights.
