San Francisco-Bay Area Chapter

25 September 2008

The San Francisco Bay area chapter has six active members.  In the middle of 2007, our members voted to dissolve this group after chapter president Sue resigned due to health condition.  Fortunately, former member Jenny volunteered to take over and we unanimously passed the motion.  Sue Van Atta serves as VP, Ewa Sobilo is the new Treasurer, and Deborah Froessel is Secretary.  We continue to seek out new members and participate in E-scrip, which results in a modest amount of funds for our group each year.

The San Francisco-Bay Area Chapter of PPSEAWA maintains its membership of ten members;we continually seek out new members for our group. We continue to support our Tibetan student, Liu Doncheen, who lives in China at a cost of $275.00 per year. We also support a deaf student in India. We pay $120.00 per year through Jyoti Bal Vikas Sanstha.

We have monthly meetings with the exception of two months in the summer. We will attend the Chinese New Year Parade in San Francisco on 11 February 2006. We continue to seek out new activities and projects.

We correspond directly with Liu Doncheen who attends Kinlong Junior Middle School. The letters are translated by our member, Jenny Guo. We pay $275 per year to sponsor Liu. We also support a deaf student, Jyoti Bal Vikas Sanstha in India. We correspond with her in English. A delegation from our chapter visited an organization called Books for the Barrios and we have donated items to send to Philippines.
