Recently we were saddened by the news from Toledo chapter of the deaths of two wonderful members, Marjorie Wilson and Berniece Husted, who spent many years promoting the causes of PPSEAWA in their younger days and continued until the time they left us. The President of the Toledo chapter, Norma Wells, sent a check of $354, on behalf of the chapter, to PPSEAWA-USA Education/Scholarship Fund.

Congratulations to Anne Palamountain, a longtime member and a current National Vice-President on receiving the prestigious Lucy Skidmore Scribner Medal. Anne accepted the award last August at the 25th Anniversary of the Palamountain Scholarship Benefit Dinner.

Get well wishes! Although Shirley Munyan has not been well for awhile, her spirit is strong. It would be nice for her to receive little notes from PPSEAWA sisters. Over the years, Shirley has done so much for PPSEAWA – always generous and always ready to help. Now let’s be generous with our time and spend a little time to write her a nice newsy letter. (Do not call her, though).

PPSEAWA - International President Dr. Viopapa Annandale was in New York this January to hold the annual Council meeting. At the same time, she attended the CEDAW hearings at the United Nations and presented Samoa country progress report on CEDAW.

Viopapa was quite busy for the short time she was here. She attended a NGO briefing with Helen Chong at the Dag Hammarskjold Auditorium and viewed a video showing of “UN Year in Review 2004”.
