Introduction
The Pan Pacific and South East Asia Women’s Association (PPSEAWA) is the only international women’s organization devoted to families, peace and understanding in the Asia Pacific region.
Aims and purposes of the organization
Identifying the needs and problems of today’s women and children. Protecting the status of women and children and promoting family and child welfare. Furthering education, training and literacy programs for all ages. Working to protect and improve the environment. Raising funds and provide support locally and region wide.
Significant changes in the organization
Changed the President on 2019 International Conference.
Contribution of the organization to the work of the United Nations
Triennial Conferences devotes one day UN Programs as according to the By-Law. The theme for the 2019 Conference “Life’s Journey to Wellbeing” Our organization celebrated with programs/activities the International Day of Peace on 21 September. Creative Talk and Domestic Workshop for Women by PPSEAWA Sarawak Chapter. To give information and awareness about the importance of taking into consideration the environmental and health aspects of life.
Participation in meetings of the United Nations
Accredited representatives attended meetings in Bangkok, Geneva, New York and Vienna. Permanent representatives attend regular sessions focusing on their specific region. Highlights include:
- UN Representatives join Working Group on Girls Meeting ; Attended: NGO- Communications, Coordinations, Committee for the UN; Monthly meeting related subject on women’s health and well being; Monthly meeting in participate with UN Women’s projects and Webinars on multiple subjects related to Beijing + 25. The 1995 Beijing Platform for Action; and UN Women’s programs on peace and security for women.
- UN/ESCAP Representatives, attended Seventy-third session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, Bangkok, 15-19 May 2017. The theme was “Regional Cooperation for Sustainable Energy”.
- UN/Vienna Representative attended to the conference of The 26th Session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice held from 22 to 26 of May 2017 in Vienna.
- UN/ Geneva Representative attended UN Forum on Business and Human Rights, 27-29 November 2017, Geneva, Palais des Nations, organized by its Secretariat at the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and chaired by the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights.
UN/NY Representatives organized or cosponsor the CSW 61,62 63 and 64 side events,
Human Rights.

Cooperation with United Nations bodies
- Our organization was a sponsor of the program by The Working Group on Girls on The International Day of Girl, at the UN headquarters in New York on 10 October 2019.
- Submitted a written statement to the 2021 ECOSOC High-level Segment.
Initiatives taken by the organization in support of the Millennium Development Goals / Sustainable
Development Goals
Our organization had projects to support MDGs. The projects included:
- The PPSEAWA Young Women’s Fund, provides financial assistance for young women ages 18-34 years to attend International Conferences or to develop special projects to help their communities.
- The USA Education Scholarship Fund provides tuition for unserved girl students to complete the last two years of high school.
- We offer a scholarship through the Jyoti Children’s Development Foundation to cover the tuition, room, and board of girl students at a school for the hearing impaired in Kanpur, India.
- PPSEAWA USA makes annual donations for domestic violence services including support for survivors at emergency shelters run by the YWCA in Chicago and Garden of Hope in New York.
- PPSEAWA International Ambassador of Peace asked National Member Organizations to engage with this year’s UN Peace Day theme.
- PPSEAWA International also awarded COVID Recovery Grants to PPSEAWA National Member Organizations in September 2020 to help women and children in the Pacific Region. The Grants were used to purchase refurbished HP laptops to enable girls on remote learning to stay in school. One Grant was used for “supermoms” project for single mothers with no income, providing cash relief and meals in April-May, then housing assistance and financial training.
