COVID-19 Relief Efforts by PPSEAWA Thailand

Sadly, due to the COVID-19 pandemic which also hit Thailand from the end of March through end of May 2020 we have had to resort to virtual monthly meetings and have had to put face-to-face physical activities on hold. These social distancing measures did not deter us from devising ways to help our communities hit by the pandemic; and in our thoughts and prayers are the frontliners such as medical personnel and staff helping those directly affected and hospitalized.

⁃ 22 April 2020 we gathered together approximately 500 packed alcohol hand gel bottles for distribution to the Thailand Association of the Blind.

⁃ May-June 2020 donated 300 lunch boxes daily on Monday-Friday at Bangkok’s Holy Redeemer Church to serve the local communities; and 200 lunch boxes were donated on Tuesdays and Fridays on Bangkok’s Asoke Road benefiting taxi drivers, motorcycle taxi drivers, minivan drivers, street sweepers.

⁃ May 2020 to present- donations of breads, milk, dried foods and rice to fill the “Pantry of Sharing Project” two food cupboards for those in the two communities who have been hard-hit economically by the pandemic;

⁃ 1 May 2020 we started producing Botanical Masks for Charity designed and drawn by our member and world -renowned Botanical Artist Ms. Lalita Rochanakorn. Proceeds so far from the 2,700 masks sold have been donated to hospitals for the purchase of much-needed medical equipment to fight this virus.

⁃ 16 September 2020 a substantial donation was presented to Bhumiphol Hospital Foundation.
