PPSEAWA Thailand's Projects to Improve the Health of Vulnerable Women

Release Date

PPSEAWA Thailand has several ongoing projects in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being and with Sustanable Development Goal 17: Partnership.

PPSEAWA Thailand's Advancing the Status of Women Committee, together with the Queen Sirikit Centre for Breast Cancer, holds an annual Breast Cancer Awareness campaign at women’s prisons. 100 female prisoners at Samut Sakorn Provincial Central Prison were taught self examination methods and preventive measures by two registered nurses from the Queen Sirikit Centre for Breast Cancer on November 19, 2020.

PPSEAWA Thailand's Welfare of the Elderly Committee provides meals and household supplies for elderly women at the Baan Sutavas Chalermprakiat Home for the Elderly in Nakorn Nayok Province. In 2019, we presented them with basic essentials, medicines and first aid kits. We installed two cold water dispensers. Our PPSEAWA members sang and danced with the residents as well. In 2020, PPSEAWA donated basic necessities and sponsored lunch over a period of 9 days for the same Home for the Elderly. However, due to distancing measures under COVID-19, we were not permitted to visit them in-person this year.
