PPSEAWA has consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). Under ECOSOC resolution 1996/31, we must submit to the Committee on NGOs every 4 years a brief report of our activities in support of the United Nations. PPSEAWA International’s most recent quadrennial report was accepted by ECOSOC on 10 June 2025.

The Pan Pacific and South East Asia Women’s Association (PPSEAWA) is the only international women’s organization devoted to families, peace and understanding in the Asia Pacific region.
PPSEAWA’s mission is to strengthen peace and promote cooperation for women’s socio-economic development in the Asia Pacific region. PPSEAWA programs offer protection against violence and climate displacement; identify the needs of women and children at risk; further education, skills training, and financial literacy for all age groups; and promote environmental protection and sustainable cultural practices.

Member of the NGO Communications Coordination Committee for the United Nations. Member of the Steering Committee of the NGO Committee to Stop Trafficking in Persons. Member of the NGO Committee on the Status of Women, New York. Member organization of the Working Group on Girls. PPSEAWA Triennial International Conferences include a United Nations program with speakers from regional UN agencies. The theme for the 2024 Conference was “Managing the Changing Climate Planning for Managed Retreat and Resilience” (Wellington, New Zealand, 29-31 October 2024). Each country has a local program for the International Day of Peace on 21 September and to raise awareness of gender-based violence during 16 Days of Activism, from 25 November to 10 December.
Representatives attended the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024. Submitted a written statement to ECOSOC in 2021 on how COVID-19 pandemic impacted poverty and hunger, health, decent work, and gender-based violence increased in the Asia Pacific region. Representatives attended the 77th session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok, Thailand (26-27 April 2021); 78th session (23-27 May 2022); 79th session (15-19 May 2023); and the 80th session (22-26 April 2024). Representatives attended as well sponsored Side Events and Parallel Events at the Commission on the Status of Women Meetings in 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024. Representative attended the United Nations Civil Society Conference from May 9-10, 2024, in Nairobi, Kenya.
Vice President-at-Large, Conference of Non-Governmental Organizations in Consultative Relationship with the United Nations. Contributed to funding and preparation of CoNGO 75th Anniversary events, especially in Bangkok (April 2023) and New York (0ctober 2023). Member of Steering Committee for the Regional Committee for Asia Pacific, and co-host of annual meetings in Bangkok in 2022, 2023, and 2024. Representatives attend the Working Group on Girls meetings and PPSEAWA contributed funds for the International Day of Girl Summit and Girls Speak Out at the United Nations on October 11 in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024. PPSEAWA hosted a Parallel Event during the 67th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women with Mikiko Otani, Chairperson, United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child - “Voices of Child Survivors: Breaking the Silence of Child Sexual Exploitation” (9 March 2023). PPSEAWA hosted a Parallel Event during the 68th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women with Ellen Hansen, Deputy Director, Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific, United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) - “Disrupting Harm / Building Empowerment of Marginalized Women and Youth” (17 March 2024). Sponsored Side Events with the Permanent Mission of Thailand to the United Nations and CCCUN on Women’s Health and Well-Being at: CSW65 on 16 March 2021, CSW66 on 16 March 2022, CSW67 on 9 March 2023, and CSW68 on 14 March 2024.
PPSEAWA awarded Young Women’s Fund grants in 2021 and 2023 to young women (18-34 years) for development projects supporting Goals 3, 4, 5 in Malaysia, Taiwan, and Thailand. Awarded scholarships in 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, for tuition, room, and board for hearing-impaired girls in Kanpur, India, through the Jyoti Children’s Development Foundation founded by a PPSEAWA member. Two projects in support of Goals 1, 4, 5, and 8. Funded construction of the Matainiyavu Bakery in Fiji to provide lunches for 5 schools, and serve four villages and three informal settlements in 2023-24. PPSEAWA members provide financial literacy and skills training for single mothers. In Thailand, PPSEAWA member pioneered a “Trash Saving Bank Project”. Seniors and children in an impoverished area by a canal collected plastic recyclables to earn dividends which added 20% to their savings. Students were awarded scholarships for their waste deposits.
